Features at the 2009 Dairy Event and Livestock Show

One of the Dairy Event and Livestock Show’s major strengths is its diverse range of exhibits, including both static and live demonstrations. The 2009 Dairy Event and Livestock Show featured exhibitions which have made the event popular in the past, along with several new initiatives.

'Healthy Animals Healthy Profits'

The 'Healthy Animals Healthy Profits' feature  is designed to promote positive health planning in the dairy, beef and sheep sectors.

The area will provide visitors with the opportunity to gather expert advice and view live demonstrations that will be of practical use on their own farms.

The area will incorporate Hoof Trimming Demonstrations which have proven to be extremely popular over the past few years. Sponsored by Giltspur Scientific, these live demonstrations are carried out on both days of the event, providing visitors with the opportunity to view hoof trimming using a rollover crush as well as demonstrations of Dutch trimming techniques.

 Farm Health Planning

Sheep Exhibition

Making a profit from sheep production is a real challenge even for those dedicated to the enterprise. Understanding the technical aspects is an essential prerequisite for all livestock farmers.

The RABDF in association with the National Sheep Association (NSA) will provide visitors with valuable information on the technical aspects of sheep production in this exhibition, located in the Sheep Building on Avenue Q.

The exhibition will encompass up to date information on the latest and key sheep industry news and developments; flock health planning, nutrition, animal health, grassland management, getting the best from the market place, breeds and breeding as well as the very latest sheep ID and handling systems.

Commercial Goat Exhibition

Following the success of this exhibition launched in 2008, RABDF in association with the British Goat Society will provide valuable information for existing goat farmers and those who want to know more about this growing market.

There will be a number of  breeds on display with advice on their commercial applications for dairy, meat or fibre products located in the Sheep Buildings on Avenue Q.

Practical demonstrations will also be held on both days including AI, milking and foot trimming together with advice on feeding and genetics, which will be of benefit to all goat farmers.

RBST National Show - 'Native Breeds for Modern Needs'

Following the success of this new exhibition in 2008, RABDF in association with RBST will stage the RBST National Show at the 2009 Dairy Event and Livestock Show.
